ALUM OF THE SCHOOL AT JACOB’S PILLOW AND CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY

Brian Golden is the artistic director of DySpRaXiAc DaNcE, a dance theater company based in Los Angeles and New York that explores neurodiversity. He obtained his BFA from Chapman University where he studied Dance and Film Production. Brian has researched improvisation in Israel with the Batsheva and Vertigo Dance Company. He has presented work at the Joyce Theater as a part of the Martha Graham Dance Companies fall season, Battery Dance Festival, Southern California Institute of Architecture, New Century Dance Project, and McCallum Choreography Festival. He has also choreographed music videos for Yung Gravy, Daddy Yankee, and Two Friends. 

Most recently, he completed a choreography residency at Jacob’s Pillow, studied choreographic devices under the mentorship of Doug Varone and is the 2024 Choreography Fellow of Axis Dance Company. His work explores elements of conflict, expression, and sensation in order to reveal dramatic scenarios and multi-dimensional characters. This past March, under the mentorship of Spenser Theberge, Brian premiered “Two Months Too Early” a full length sensory dance performance that explores disabilities- Dyspraxia and Auditory Processing Disorder through the lens of the Pop Art movement, drawing upon his own experiences and disabilities.

In the fall Brian will begin his journey at California Institute of the Arts to pursue a Masters of Fine Arts in Choreography.
