Workshop Facilitators: Ann Biddle (Director, DEL at Jacob’s Pillow) and Felice Santorelli (DEL Facilitator).

DELve into an interactive and embodied workshop linked to The Royal Ballet of the United Kingdom and explore the nationally acclaimed Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) pedagogy model to investigate a choreographer’s work through multiple entry points.

In this workshop participants:

• Explore different approaches to looking at a choreographer’s work 
• Engage in embodied research
• Participate in movement exploration and collaborative dance-making
• Discover applications of workshop content to dance education

Drawing from the extensive resources of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Interactive, participants engage in meaningful dance learning activities that explore diverse dance artists, genres, and eras within a cultural, historic, and social context. Multi-modal teaching strategies include movement observation, embodied reflection, reconstruction practices, collaborative research, and collective dance-making.

Workshop registrants will receive a 20% discount to the same-day matinee performance of The Royal Ballet in the Ted Shawn Theatre, subject to ticket availability.

DEL at Jacob’s Pillow connects dance educators, college dance students, classroom teachers, and professional dancers to the DEL model of dance education—situated alongside Jacob’s Pillow’s year-round resources as a center for dance research and development.
