Whatever is around you will soon become our stage. And wherever you are is exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Unlike a dance film, Viewpoint is a LIVE experimental dance performance that takes place in the world around you — and you’re invited to participate. Your phone becomes your viewing window, allowing you to place the dancer on any surface around you and watch the performance from any angle and at any scale. Please play, experiment, and explore.

If you’re already on your phone, simply click the link below to start watching. If you’re on a computer, pick up your phone and scan the QR code.

You will be asked some questions upon joining, please grant all permissions for the full experience. If you need some help along the way, scroll down on this page for more guidance.

We would love to see your point of view. If you screenshot or screen-record special moments during your experience, post them on Instagram and tag us @JacobsPillow or email them to us. For guidance on taking a screenshot on your device, please refer to these instructions.

If you have any technical questions or need any assistance, please reach out to DX@JacobsPillow.org.

Click “Allow”.

Now, aim your phone’s camera toward an area in your room where you want to place the dancer.

This can be on any flat, horizontal surface, such as the floor, a tabletop, a windowsill, a shelf in your refrigerator, the sidewalk. Have fun!

Then touch your screen and that will place the dancer’s hologram.

Eureka! A live-streaming hologram of the dancer will appear.

The image is in 3D, and will be fixed in the position you decided in your space. That means you are free to walk around the dancer, and watch from any angle.
