Jacob’s Pillow invites applications for The College Partnership Program Faculty Research Fellowship.

This Fellowship supports faculty during sabbaticals or as part of their ongoing research, offering an opportunity to work in the Pillow’s retreat-like atmosphere, regenerative landscape, and renowned Archives. Informed by the Jacob’s Pillow mission to support dance creation, presentation, education, and preservation; and to engage and deepen public appreciation and support for dance, the College Partnership Program Faculty Research Fellowship expands upon the Pillow’s history as a site for research and development and supports the growth of our region’s academic community.

The College Partnership Program Faculty Research Fellowship supports two weeks of archival research during the fall/winter/spring. Each Fellowship includes a cash stipend, housing on the Jacob’s Pillow campus, and access to the Jacob’s Pillow Archives. Research weeks do not need to be consecutive, but they must fall within the fellowship period. Access to housing and Archives visits must be arranged in advance and are subject to building and staff availability.

Fellowship stipends are $1,000 ($500 per week) and the fellowship period is September 2025 – May 2026.

Eligibility:  Open to all faculty at College Partner Program Institutions or Individual College Partner Members. Become an Institutional or Individual College Partner here

Application:  Application consists of four parts: (1) application form, (2) project proposal, (3) abbreviated CV, and (4) one professional letter of recommendation. The project proposal should include a general description or abstract of the research project. Successful applications will highlight specific materials of interest in the Jacob’s Pillow Archives—searchable through archives.jacobspillow.org—and describe how those archival materials will connect to and support the research project.

Jacob’s Pillow particularly welcomes applications from faculty within underrepresented groups in academia and the dance field—including women, BIPOC scholars (Black, Indigenous, and people of color), first generation scholars, transgender individuals, and persons with disabilities—and projects that contribute to discourse around contemporary social, political, and cultural issues.

Deadline: January 31, 2025
