Through shared understanding and the desire to create a sense of community with our attendees, Jacob’s Pillow is part of a Berkshire-based consortium of cultural organizations who have developed a unified “Patron Code of Courtesy.” We recognize that attendees at our cultural events have awareness of playing a vital role in ensuring the enjoyment of all in our spaces. Please note: each individual organization may have additional policies.

  • Patrons are expected to treat all staff, artists, and other guests onsite with respect verbally and physically. The following behaviors are inconsistent with our values and are prohibited:
    • Inappropriate or bullying language of any kind;
    • Unwanted or threatening physical contact with another person, or any continued or unwanted physical contact in which a person has asked someone to stop;
    • Microaggressions, or any action that would be deemed harassment, destruction of property, or theft;
    • Sustained disruption of performances, pre/post-show and/or other lectures/discussions sponsored by the performance venue.
  • Patrons must adhere to house seating rules and guidelines for each venue, and must be prepared to show their tickets to House Managers and ushers when requested.
  • Patrons must refrain from disruptive talking that’s not called for by the specific production. Reactions such as laughing, gasping, and crying are welcome.
  • Patrons  must adhere to the no filming/recording/photography rules as established by the performing artists and the performance venue. Phone calls, texting, and other disruptive cell phone use during performances is prohibited. Patrons must silence all smart devices.
  • Patrons must consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner. Each performance venue carries different food and beverage policies. Please contact the specific organization/venue directly for their policy.
  • Patrons must be fully clothed at all times, including shirts and shoes.
  • Guns and other weapons are not allowed on premise, including concealed weapons of any kind.

Thank you in advance for working with us to ensure the safest possible experience. We appreciate your respectful cooperation and adherence to these guidelines. If you feel that you cannot comply with our Patron Code of Courtesy, we ask that you refrain from attending events at our venue(s). Patrons who display any type of disruptive behaviors may be asked to leave the premises.
