Jacob’s Pillow is thrilled to welcome the world this summer as we celebrate our 2023 season. During this Festival, we’ll connect with global artists from around the world through the unifying power of dance. We’re particularly excited to welcome back international artists this summer, after the challenging travel limitations the Covid-19 pandemic presented. DUTCH NATIONAL BALLET
Netherlands
The Dutch National Ballet has evolved into one of the world’s most critically acclaimed and foremost ballet companies. The company continues to bring its audiences highlights of twentieth-century ballet, from the beginning of the century, and beyond. This summer, the company will be performing 2 works by Hans van Manen, a Dutch choreographer of more than 150 ballets and the company’s Resident Choreographer.

DANCE COMPANY THEATERHAUS STUTTGART
Germany
Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart returns to Jacob’s Pillow to celebrate its 15th anniversary, all the way from Germany. As a part of their program, Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart will be performing Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16, The acclaimed work which will make its return to the Ted Shawn Theatre for the first time in over 20 years!
Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart will be performing July 12 – 16, 2023.
OONA DOHERTY
Northern Ireland
Jacob’s Pillow is thrilled to welcome Oona Doherty, the first headlining artist from Northern Ireland. Doherty will present the U.S. premiere of Navy Blue, her largest work yet, driven by a thrilling in-your-face mash-up of ensemble dance, spoken word poetry, political candor, and eclectic music. The company will also perform Hope Hunt and the Ascension into Lazarus.

RESIDENT ISLAND DANCE THEATRE
Southern Taiwan
Our guests traveling the furthest to join Jacob’s Pillow, Resident Island Dance Theatre, will join us from Southern Taiwan. The company was founded in 2010 just outside the capital city of Taipei. Now, almost 13 years later, Resident Island Dance Theatre is preparing to make its U.S. Debut tour this July. With fresh and inventive kinetic explorations of space, time, action, and gesture, choreographer Chung-An Chang’s perform emotionally charged and socially engaged works that disrupt and challenge society’s expectations. This physically inclusive company performs works rooted in the power of the human body and spirit.

COMPAGNIE KÄFIG
France
Founded by French-Algerian renowned Hip Hop artist Mourad Merzouki, Lyon-based Compagnie Käfig will return to Jacob’s Pillow to merge elements of Hip Hop with modern dance, circus, and digital arts in its breakneck productions. Seen now in about 30 countries around the world, Pixel is a mind-blowing mix of Hip-Hop dance and cutting-edge digital projection. With never-before-seen stagecraft, dancers achieve aerial and acrobatic feats in a 3D digital landscape that changes with their every movement.
