Jerome Robbins' NY Export: Opus Jazz
Sunday June 13, 2010, 3pm
FREE for Pillow Members
In 1958, after the success of West Side Story, Broadway and ballet legend Jerome Robbins choreographed NY Export: Opus Jazz. In 2009, a bevy of stunning young dancers from the New York City Ballet resolved to recreate the piece as a film, and shoot it outdoors in New York City. Jacob's Pillow is thrilled to be sharing this unique project with its Members at our annual Members-only film event, which also includes a reception with the filmmakers in Blake's Barn and a preview of 2010 Festival exhibits. Season Opening Gala

It's a dance party like no other -- the 2010 Season Opening Gala of Jacob's Pillow Dance. Enjoy exclusive performances by Festival artists, a world premiere by Karole Armitage set on the students of the Ballet Program, surprise guests, and meet the recipient of the prestigious Jacob's Pillow Dance Award. A sumptuous dinner and silent auction follow, and performers and Gala attendees dance the night away to a red hot band under a tent on the Great Lawn.

Let's Dance! at the Pillow

Alumni Day

Open to all Pillow Alumni
Each summer we invite alumni of The School and our Intern Program to return to Jacob's Pillow and reconnect with the palpable spirit of dance that makes the Pillow such a special place. Take advantage of the opportunity to reminisce with other alum or make new friends. Alumni who visit Jacob's Pillow on this day can enjoy walking the historic grounds, receiving a guided tour of the archives, and attending a reception with old friends and treasured mentors. This year's visiting alumni also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to Armitage Gone! Dance or Pichet Klunchun Dance Company.

Benefit for The School at Jacob's Pillow
LIVE MUSIC - SURPRISE BROADWAY STARS
A dazzling one-night-only revue, A Jazz Happening brings Broadway to the Berkshires, highlighting the Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance students of The School at Jacob's Pillow as they perform alongside award-winning guest celebrities and a live jazz band. This evening of style and pizzazz is directed by Chet Walker, original conceiver of Fosse, and all proceeds support The School at Jacob's Pillow. Gold ticket buyers are invited to a post-show dessert reception with the performers and mingle with today's and tomorrow's stars of the Broadway stage.
