Chet Walker invites award-winning Broadway choreographers, dancers, and
musicians to create original numbers on participants. This year's program highlights the legacy of Jack Cole, considered the father of American jazz dance. In a culminating event on August 22, dancers perform alongside Broadway guest artists, accompanied by a live band. The event, A Jazz Happening, is a benefit for The School at Jacob's Pillow.

Nine to twelve numbers are created on the dancers, enabling them to experience multiple choreographic approaches. They perform excerpts August 7, 14, and 21 on the free Inside/Out series, building the movement and vocal performance skills necessary to work as an ensemble.

Daily classes include ballet, jazz, musical theatre dance, tap, and vocal training. Afternoon and evening rehearsals are held in collaboration with musicians. Faculty and guest artists lead seminars in audition and career-building strategies. Study in the Archives develops a rich understanding of the history and artists instrumental in the development of these American art forms.
